Alice Clark is one of the foremost specialist decorative painters in Great Britain. She specialises in woodgraining, gilding, marbling, murals, trompe l'oeil, decorative paint finishes and restoration.
She was first trained in specialist decorative paint finishes by George Oakes at Colefax and Fowler where she progressed from the then highly fashionable dragging and ragging, to woodgraining, marbling, gilding, restoration and other highly specialist work.
One area in which she is particularly skilled is colour matching and restoration work. The exact matching of existing colours and technique is an art in itself which enables retouching and restoration to be carried out without prejudicing the integrity of the original.
Examples of Alice's decorative paint finishes can be seen by clicking onto the particular specialist finish which interests you.
As well as private commissions Alice works closely with her husband, furniture maker Christopher Clark, at Christopher Clark Workshops Ltd
Estimates are generally provided free of charge and Alice is available both to meet on site and to produce sample boards for approval. On occasions there is a cost, but if so it will be deducted from the commission.
"I have been blessed to have known Alice Clark for some 25 years. Alice has a true talent and appreciation of colour and has kindly painted both furniture and rooms for me over the years. She is a delightful diligent artist and friend". William Yeoward London 2013
